These wands are handmade in the traditional way by using a sharp knife to carve the wood. You can see the marks of the knife as no sandpaper has been used.
Burr Oak wand has been hand crafted then finished in wax. It has copper inlay where there are natural fissures in the wood.
Burr Oak is taken from an area of the large tree where many very small branches form in clusters. They are usually around the base of the tree where animals eat the fresh growth, which then forms a mound of Burr over many years. The spots and swirls are where the branches attempted to grow.
