Pitch Pine is from a tree which grows in North America and was extensively used in constuction and furniture during the 1800-1900s. The timber was also boiled to release the Pitch which has waterproofing qualities.
The wood I have used for these runes has been in my stock for several years, having been reclaimed from a bridge, where it has been exposed to the elements for over 100 years. It still retains it’s distinct aroma even after all that time of being out in rain, hail and sun. I bet it has some stories to tell.
With the symbol burned into one surface, this means it will not wear off after many years of use.
